A National Gathering of Twins, Multiple Births, Families and Friends
📍 Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria
📅 Friday, 4 December – Sunday, 6 December 2026
Twins National Convention is a gathering dedicated to bringing twins, multiple-birth families, supporters and friends together to connect, learn, celebrate their unique identity and promote the wellbeing of twins and multiple births.
Organised by Twins Alive Foundation (TAF), the convention provides a platform for friendship, knowledge sharing, skills development, advocacy, recreation and community engagement.
It is more than a gathering. It is an opportunity to build lasting relationships, celebrate our shared experiences and work towards a future in which every twin and every child is valued, protected and empowered.
Come as twins. Come as family. Come as friends. Leave as one community.
ABOUT THE CONVENTION
Where Twins Meet, Connect and Engage for Better Wellbeing
Twins share a remarkable bond, but their experiences, aspirations and challenges are as diverse as the individuals themselves.
Twins National Convention creates an inclusive platform where twins and multiple-birth families can meet people with similar experiences, exchange ideas, develop new skills and build a stronger network of support.
The convention also welcomes parents, guardians, researchers, healthcare professionals, organisations, community leaders and everyone interested in the welfare and advancement of twins and multiple births.
Through meaningful engagement and shared activities, we seek to strengthen relationships, promote awareness and encourage collective action towards better wellbeing for twins and their families.
MARY SLESSOR HERITAGE TOUR
Join us in exploring the history and humanitarian legacy of Mary Mitchell Slessor, whose work among communities in southeastern Nigeria included efforts to protect vulnerable twins and children. The heritage programme is intended to deepen participants' understanding of her life and work while inspiring a new generation to embrace compassion, service and the protection of vulnerable lives.
MARY SLESSOR POSTHUMOUS BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION
As part of the broader heritage and advocacy programme, Twins Alive Foundation will commemorate the posthumous birthday of Mary Mitchell Slessor on 2 December 2026, marking the anniversary of her birth in 1848. The commemoration will celebrate her humanitarian legacy and renew attention to the importance of protecting vulnerable children, supporting families and promoting the dignity of twins and multiple births.
WORKSHOPS & KNOWLEDGE SHARING
Our workshops will create space for meaningful conversations about the wellbeing of twins and multiple births. Topics may include health and wellbeing, education, family relationships, personal development, economic empowerment, inclusion and community support. Participants will have opportunities to exchange experiences, learn from relevant professionals and discuss practical ways to address the challenges facing twins and their families.
SKILLS TRAINING & EMPOWERMENT
The convention will provide opportunities for learning, personal development and practical skills acquisition. Through planned training sessions and empowerment activities, participants will be encouraged to explore new opportunities, develop useful skills and strengthen their capacity to contribute meaningfully to their families and communities.
